The Persona
Biography
Ciaran Astral is an anonymous persona created by visionary British/Irish designer <name redacted>, whose work has helped shape the landscape of virtual worlds.
With deep roots in early metaverse innovation he was instrumental in helping to create pioneering & award-winning interactive experiences for global brands such as Calvin Klein, C.O.T.Y., Cisco, Club One Fitness, Coca-Cola, Diageo, Harris, Herman Miller, ING, Intel, Penguin Books, Philips, Reebok, Renault Formula One, Sky News, The Hay Festival of Literature & Arts, The United States Department of Defense, The United States Department of Undersea Warfare, Vodafone & William Gibson.
Beyond the digital realm, Ciaran’s artistic vision extended to the stage, performing in a groundbreaking production during the 2010 Dublin Fringe Festival. As part of the cast, live on stage, Ciaran dynamically built an immersive projected digital space, allowing actors to interact with a virtual environment that evolved before the audience’s eyes, throughout the play.
After a 15-year hiatus, Ciaran’s creator has been reborn to virtual worlds with a new, anonymous persona (Ciaran Astral) — not to revisit the commercial era of virtual branding, but to explore, through creative endeavour, the boundaries of Immersivism — a new art movement that evolved from the early days of immersive space design. This new movement thrives across a variety of platforms, with numerous artists creating a compelling and ever-evolving body of work.
Ciaran’s current work focuses on interrogating the boundaries of immersive art, creating new spaces and types of experiences that challenge perception and invite deeper engagement & discussion with digital worlds.
